Air Pressure Switch
The pressure switches are used to regulate the tank pressure between two preset values on small (up to 175 psi) electrically driven air compressors. They are available with an unloader valve, which prevents compressors from starting under load, and an auto-off disconnect lever for manual cut off the compressor. A four port manifold style is available which provides a means for easy mounting of valves and gauges (all four port manifold style switches include both the unloader and lever).
- 1/4" Female NPT Ports
- UL Listed, CSA Certified and CE Approved
- NEMA 1 Enclosure
- Rated for both 50/60Hz operation.
Optional Accessories:
- Auto-Off Disconnect Lever for manual cut off of the compressor .
- Unloader Valve to prevent the compressor from starting under load.
- Single or Four Port Manifold options available
- Four Port Manifold provides a means for easy mounting of relief valves and gauges.
The Hubbell 69JG Series is a class of industrial air pressure switches used mainly on electric air compressors, pump systems, and dry sprinkler systems. Below is a concise electrical guideline and specification overview for the entire 69JG / Class 69J series.
Hubbell 69JG Series – Electrical Guidelines
1. Electrical Ratings
Typical ratings for Class 69JG pressure switches:
| Voltage | Max Motor Rating |
|---|---|
| 120 VAC (1-phase) | 2 HP |
| 240 VAC (1-phase) | 3 HP |
| 240 VAC (3-phase) | 5 HP |
| 480–600 VAC (3-phase) | 1 HP |
| DC 32–230 V | 0.5 HP |
Control circuit rating: A600 pilot duty.
⚠️ If the compressor motor exceeds these ratings, use a magnetic starter or contactor instead of connecting the motor directly to the pressure switch.
2. Operating Electrical Characteristics
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Frequency | 50 / 60 Hz |
| Contact type | 2-pole switch |
| Contact material | Silver cad-oxide brazed |
| Maximum pressure | 200 PSI |
| Enclosure | NEMA 1 (general purpose) |
These switches automatically open and close electrical contacts based on system pressure to start or stop the compressor motor.
3. Typical Wiring Configuration
Terminal Functions
| Terminal | Function |
|---|---|
| LINE | Incoming power from breaker |
| LOAD | Output to motor or contactor |
| Ground | Equipment grounding |

Best practice:
-
Install proper grounding
-
Provide overcurrent protection
-
Follow NEC / local electrical code
4. Pressure Settings (Typical by Model)
| Model | Cut-In / Cut-Out |
| 69JG6 | 80 / 100 PSI |
| 69JG7 | 95 / 125 PSI |
| 69JG8 | 115 / 150 PSI |
| 69JG9 | 140 / 175 PSI |
These switches regulate compressor tank pressure between preset limits.
